South-South Social Remittances for Human Development in Tanzania 2012-2013

The IOM/ACP Observatory on Migration commissioned DPC to conduct a study to explore the potential of South-South social remittances for promoting human development in Tanzania. Social remittances refers to the flow of ideas, knowledge, attitudes, behaviours, identities and social capital transmitted through migrants to family, friends and beyond in the sending country communities. Social remittances thus differ from financial remittances.
