Karagwe Development and Relief Services (KADERES)
Monitoring and Evaluation of KADERES’ performance in implementing their seed capital contract with HIVOS.
Since 2002, HIVOS has supported KADERES in building the capacity of SACCOs (Savings and Credit Cooperatives) to enable them to provide rural financial services in Karagwe region, northern Tanzania. The objective is to “upgrade the socio-economic position of the community through the implementation of agriculture and economic projects in a sustainable way.”
In 2011, DPC was contracted to undertake a mid-term review including recommendations related to KADERES’ socio-economic impact and suggested improvement of existing or new financial products and services. Overall, the monitoring and evaluation exercises were intended to inform HIVOS and guide KADERES towards sustainability, indicating the best path for future development.
